Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

We're excited to play along with the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! We were sponsors back in December for the Winter blog hop, and decided we wanted to be more involved this time! With "Spring" as the theme, we decided we would play around with a fresh palette of corals and sky blues. For this project, we used our Let's Chat stamp set for the imagery and our new Wonderful Women stamp set for the sentiment. Doesn't the word "Lovely" just sound like Spring?!

We played around with ombre effects on the plate decoration and the stamped sentiment. For the leafy plate design, we used three shades of Copics to create the gradient around the plate. On the sentiment, we used shades of Distress Ink, ranging from Abandoned Coral to Barn Door. Pick up the lightest shade on the entire stamp, then pick up the middle tone on about half the stamp, then pick up a hint of the darkest shade on the bottom of the stamp. We didn't spritz the stamp with water, but you could do that if you wanted to get a more blended/water-colored look.

We added some coral Copic to the glitter paper to customize it and tie it in a little more. Copic purists are probably cringing hearing that! We were very gentle on the glitter paper, and we made sure to use a low texture glitter paper to avoid sandpapering the tip of our marker. :)

We also used the heart border stamp to create some movement on the card. It was a little bare without it, and it was just the finishing touch the card needed!

We've had so much fun participating in this blog hop! Thank you Amy Tsuruta for the invitation!

To be inspired head on over to the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog!

We love how Joan used our Bags & Tags dies to make the tag, she used our 3mm gold sequins as the banner strand that the birdie's are holding, plus she made her own wrapping paper! Head over to Dear Paperlicious for further details.

National CRAFT MONTH CELEBRATION Blog Hop

We are excited to be participating in this National Craft Month blog hop celebration! Nicole of Right at Home invited us to participate and we couldn't be more excited! This is a really fun way to play along with others - and for US to see what YOU create! All you have to do is create a card with your favorite crafting products, and post it to the Right at Home blog hop page. Doing so will get you entered to win different prizes from different crafting companies! Concord & 9th is giving away a $25 gift card to a lucky winner so be sure to celebrate with us by crafting and uploading your artwork!
Here is what we created with our favorite products/techniques...
Let's talk technique first - we love to watercolor! It can be quick & easy with a swash of color on the front of a note card, or you can spend some quality, therapeutic time with a brush and detailed images. For these note cards we chose the quick swash. We trimmed a few pieces of Canson cold press watercolor paper to 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" (just shy of note card size). Then choose your favorite ink colors to 'swash' across the front. The beauty of this is it doesn't have to be perfect. Once dry, ink up your watercolor brush and lightly tap the end to create the darker splatter marks on the card front. You could get a set of 8-10 cards done pretty quickly this way (these would make for a great gift to someone!).
Next, using our new Wonderful Words dies, die cut a scripted sentiment from the card front leaving some of the word uncolored. The Wonderful Words dies are sold in a bundle with Wonderful Women stamp set, but they also pair very well with our Beautiful Words stamp set which is what we chose to use here. There are so many different sentiments you can build to meet your card-giving needs from this stamp set.
After you die cut the words - do not throw away the color-dipped piece. Isn't it some sort of crafting rule that you should hang on to all extra pieces for use at a later time?
As you can see in these three cards, we didn't use the color-dipped words. We die cut the words again from Canson watercolor paper and puzzled them back on to the card front. This creates a cool reverse affect in the watercolor swash.
So, what to do with those color-dipped words? Use them on tags! We love kraft card stock, especially with pops of white, so adding these scripted words to kraft tags was fun to do! First, die cut tag shapes using our Bags & Tags dies. If you have not seen the versatility of these dies, you need to check them out. The die set allows you to create many different tops of tags (and bags), and different lengths too. The stamping is done with Simon Says Stamp white pigment ink, and then embossed with white powder.
Have you ever found hidden treasures at the dollar store? The cream colored twine on these tags is from a bolt of dollar store twine. LOVE! Be sure to add the little die cut reinforcers to the tags too. Reminds us of shipping labels/tags.
So, for these projects, our favorite crafting supplies used were:
Concord & 9th: Beautiful Words stamp set, Wonderful Words dies, Bags & Tags dies
Canson cold press 140lb watercolor paper
Tim Holtz distress inks & Ranger embossing powder
Simon Says Stamp white pigment inks
kraft card stock and dollar store twine!
Next in line for the blog hop is Katie with Avery Elle. Click HERE to hop over to her blog to see what wonderful creation she came up with! And, don't forget to post your amazing creations over on the Right At Home page.
There you will find detailed instructions on how to do so!
HAPPY NATIONAL CRAFT MONTH!!! Love, Angie B and Greg C

It's time for Carissa!

We are so excited that Carissa Wiley of Sprinkled with Glitter had time to make some projects for us as a guest designer! We absolutely LOVE Carissa's style and it shows in these fabulous cards!

First, here is a bit more about Carissa:

Hi!  I’m Carissa Wiley from SprinkledWithGlitter.com.  I’m a wife, mother of three, paper crafter, card maker, and all around crafty kind of gal.  I’ve been crafting since my son was born.  I started as a scrapbooker….and then moved in to the card making world.  I love that I get to share with others through card making.  It’s a craft that’s not mean to keep for yourself, but is meant to be shared with others.  I also love sharing the “how to” of my projects with others through my blog and YouTube channel.  Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’re inspired to create!

Now, on to those fabulous cards I mentioned...
On the first card, Carissa is using our new Bouquet die in an unexpected way. She clipped off the flowers only and made her own spray for the background. In both cards she has also used Wonderful Women stamp set and Wonderful Words dies. You are going to need to head to her blog for detailed instructions AND even a video tutorial!!! How awesome is that?

Be sure to follow Carissa on Instragram @carissawiley and her blog, Sprinkled with Glitter. She shares so much creative inspiration - you won't want to miss out!
Thank you Carrisa!!!

A big welcome to Laurie Willison @laurie_willison! She posted a video over on her blog Soapbox Creations showing our Sophisticated Script stamp set (that will be restocked very soon, we promise), and did such a good job that we invited her to guest design with our March new release products. Then, come to find out, she is friends with one of our past guest designers, and friend, Amy Kolling! So fun to learn the connections within our creative industry!

Here is a little bit about Laurie:

Hi there!  My name is Laurie Willison. I am a wife, mom and nurse, living in Kansas.  I have been paper crafting and blogging now for 9 years.  You can find me over at my blog, Soapbox Creations.  I have had the honor of working with some amazing companies over the years, but I am so excited to join Concord & 9th this month!  Their stamps are amazing and so perfect for my CAS style.  The release this month is so much fun and I can't wait to share some projects with you!

Say HELLO to Joan!

We are SO happy to have Joan Bardee @dearpaperlicious as a guest designer for our March release. We have had a fun relationship with Joan that started back in August when we launched. Joan was among some of the first crafters to show her support to us with encouraging comments, likes on Instagram, etc. She even did an interview on her blog about Concord & 9th that you can read about HERE. We feel lucky, and honored to have Joan creating projects for us. We LOVE her clean style - such a talented, fun lady!

Here is a little bit about Joan:

Hi!  I'm so happy to serve as a guest designer for Concord & 9th, one of my favorite craft companies! Thank you Angie and Greg -- you are wicked talented.

I've been stamping on and off for over 10 years.  I've tried a lot of styles, but no matter how I start out, I usually end up with one or two layers and minimal embellishments.

I live in Fairfax, Virginia, outside Washington DC, with my very nice husband.  I'm also a mom of one son, who flew the nest a couple of years ago.  Last year, I was lucky enough to retire from my career as a lawyer.  When I'm not crafting, I'm thinking about crafting, about how I should be cleaning my craft room, or about the fantastic stamping community from whom I've learned so much.

I hope you enjoy Concord & 9th as much as I do!

We just love what Joan came up with using our new Bouquet die. Very unique, out of the box uses, that turned out gorgeous! To learn more about how Joan created these, be sure to visit her fabulous blog Dear Paperlicious, and follow her other social media outlets! You will be so happy that you did!

Stunning - right?!? Great job Joan!
