CASology Blog Hop

We are excited to be participating in CASOLOGY's 5-year anniversary blog hop today! We've been a sponsor of the CASology cue cards a few times over the last (almost) 2 years since C9 started. Melissa is super sweet & we have fun participating in these challenges!

Today's challenge is BALLOON. As we looked through all of our products, we realized we don't have a traditional balloon! WHAT the what?!? Well, that's about to change! In the meantime, we decided to 'alter' one of our stamp sets a bit to meet this challenge! After all, that is the fun part, right?...being challenged to come up with something that you might not have...a way to stretch your stamps!

So, we are using our Globe Greetings Bundle (Globe Greetings stamp set & Globe Greetings dies) to create our balloon card today. This stamp/die set was designed to make globes, but as we got crafty, we discovered it makes adorable big, round balloons too!

Here are a few hints on how to make the balloon:

1) Die cut the round balloon & the the banner shape from the Globe Greetings die in matching cardstock.
2) Clip off one of the triangle banner shapes to use as the bottom of the balloon where it ties off.
3) Stamp fun florals from the Globe Greetings stamp set on to the balloon. It looks like a pretty, printed balloon, or confetti jumping all around!
4) Trim your card base, white and vellum layering pieces with your trimmer.
5) Stamp your balloon string. Can you see in the stamp set where this is from?? It's intended use was the airplane trail, but straighten your stamp out before stamping down (which is the beauty of photopolymer) and it makes a perfect string!
6) Attach your balloon on top of the stamped string using foam tape to give it some lift off your card front. Tie black twine at the bottom of the balloon.
7) Die cut two more banner pieces from another color of cardstock. These will swag behind your big balloon. You can trim off pieces, or tuck behind the ballon if you need to.
8) The card needed one last element , a big bold sentiment, so we diecut CELEBRATE from our All About You dies in black cardstock, which really pops and is a perfect size for this big balloon! It is also the perfect sentiment for this challenge today as we all help CASology CELEBRATE this great anniversary!

So, what do you think? Were we able to meet this challenge even though we didn't start out using a balloon stamp/die set? We hope you will try to do different things with your stamps & dies too. It is really a fun challenge!

Next up in the hop is Judy Marino. Be sure you hop along through all the stops because there are tons of prizes and lots of inspiration along the way! If you get lost, start over at CASology!

Details:

  • To be eligible for the sponsor prizes, participants must comment on all stops included on the hop list.  Winners will be selected randomly using random.org.
  • To be eligible for the CASology prize, participants must comment on all stops included on the hop + link up a BALLOON themed card to the gallery.  Winner will be selected randomly using random.org.

If not, click HERE to read more about each designer, and see many projects using our Sunshine Bundle (Sunshine Turnabout stamp set and Sunshine dies). They sure came up with some clever uses for all those sunny rays!

To learn a little back story on how this Unicorn Awesomeness stamp set idea came to be, click HERE. It involves our fun friend Lydia @understandblue! She tells her side of the story also. Click HERE for her version! :)

First up today is Cathy @czdesign:

Not only has Cathy made this unicorn sparkle, she's incorporated our Sunshine Turnabout stamp set too! How perfect is this pairing? We love all the glittery goodness!

Next is Crystal @crystal_thompson_design:

Crystal's unicorn looks like it is flying in the sky! We love the white puffy clouds and the shadow clouds in vellum! The ink blending and embossing is perfect!

Last but not least is Heather @houses_built_of_cards:

Heather has created two fabulous cards for us today! The plaid patterned paper is a perfect accent to the coloring and shimmer in her beautiful unicorn!

How cool is this next idea? Piecing the patterned papers in the unicorn! Such a different take, and so very cute!

How magical are all these ideas? We've loved seeing all the sparkles and creativity with this stamp set by these awesomely talented ladies!

FEATURE FRIDAY: Welcome JULY guest designers

YAY for Friday! Friday means it is time to feature our July 2017 guest designers! This month we are lucky to have Crystal Thompson, Cathy Zielske & Heather Hoffman showcasing projects using our July 2017 new release products! Each of these talented ladies will be showcasing products from our new release, on the same day, with the same products. We thought this would be a fun way to show you how versatile the products can be! Today will be our new Sunshine Bundle: Sunshine Turnabout stamp set and Sunshine dies!

In this first post, you will also get to know these talented ladies a little better with personal bio's from each of them! Be sure to start following their blogs & Instagram now so that you don't miss out on what they create with Concord & 9th goodies this month!

First up is Crystal @crystal_thompson_design:

Hi there! My name is Crystal, I am a wife & busy mom of 4 kids (ages 10, 5, 3 & 3 months), 2 labradors & 1 kitten. I have been cardmaking since 2012 where my partner in crime Heather Hoffman introduced me to online challenges. Card making is my special time to relax and enjoy the process of creativity. This card making industry is so welcoming and caring. I've been blessed with the opportunity to serve on a few design teams and make lifetime friends. I have been watching the growth of Concord & 9th from the beginning, and I am super thrilled to be part of the guest design team for July. Can't wait to see what awesome new products they come up with (they get better every time) and hope you enjoy my Feature Friday cards. I encourage you to follow me on Instagram and we can be crafty friends too!

Check out this fun card Crystal made! She used the Sunshine Turnabout stamp set TWICE on her card! Very clever! And, we love how she popped the circle sentiment piece up and tucked some of the flowers behind it using the Sunshine dies!

Next up is Cathy @czdesign:

Cathy Zielske is a graphic designer who loves her family, typography, clean and simple design, french fries and cheap red wine. Her motto: own your life, document it well and preserve reality. Her mission: take the ‘crap out of scrapbooking. To that end, she offers digital products, online workshops, and writes about crap-free approaches to memory keeping on her blog. She took up card making in 2017 and is completely smitten with the craft. And she has the receipts to prove it.

We LOVE that Cathy is new to cardmaking, although you'd never know it! Check out how fabulous Cathy's card is using the Sunshine Bundle! How cool is it that she used vellum so you can still see the sunshine rays under the sentiment?!? And, that ombre coloring is yummy!

Last but not least is Heather @houses_built_of_cards:

Hello - my name is Heather Hoffman and I blog at Houses Built of Cards. I am a wife to my hardworking husband Michael, mother to two BEAUTIFUL daughters that I also homeschool, and am blessed with lots of family and friends that I love and adore. I absolutely love playing with ink, paper, and stamps – and all the other things that go along with that! The crafty world is such a wonderful community of people, and I am so incredibly happy to be able to do what I do every single day. I was thrilled to get to meet some of the faces behind Concord & 9th at the Creativation Show in January – and imagine my excitement when I received an email from Angie asking me to guest design for a month! I’ve loved watching each and every new release from Concord & 9th and love how innovative and unique each one is. I can’t wait to share my projects with this month’s release!!!

Heather went crazy and made a bunch of cards using all the stamp sets in our July new release! SO COOL!! Look closely at how she stacked some of the sentiments. LOVE!

So - what'd you think? Isn't this a TON of inspiration all wrapped up in one post? I know we are inspired to get out our Sunshine Turnabout again and try more fun tricks because of these projects! Be sure to leave comments here for all of us to read!

For more details on these projects, hop over to their blogs! Here are the links:

Story of the Unicorn!

It's sneak peek time for our July 2017 release which goes live on Sunday, 7/9 at 9am MT! Today we are showcasing our new Unicorn Awesomeness stamp set and Unicorn dies!

We haven't done many animal sets - in fact, we only have Birdie Banners and Hugs stamp sets that include cute critters! However, a unicorn was in order, and here is why...

We have a dear friend, Lydia Fiedler, that we communicate with quite regularly. If you don't follow her blog, Understand Blue, YOU MUST GO DO THAT NOW! She is absolutely hilarious, and her blog posts always include fun stories! One day as we were communicating back and forth, she said to us "Your awesomeness rivals that of a unicorn!". Since that day, we decided we should honor her with a stamp set that includes this grand statement!

So, here it is. It finally happened. We shipped Lydia the Unicorn BUNDLE (stamps & dies) as a surprise! Of course, we received a funny text back exclaiming her excitement! And, she's already crafted up some unicorn goodness! In order to see her version of this story, and her {sure to be awesome project} click HERE for her post titled "A Hyperbolic Life"! There is a little surprise over on her blog that you may be interested in too! Why? Because Lydia's awesomeness is way better than any unicorn we've ever met! Just sayin'...

FEATURE FRIDAY: Petals & Pallets

It's FRI-YAY!
'YAY' because it's time to celebrate more fantastic projects by our June guest designers: Lisa, Rosali & Barb! Today they are all using our new Petals & Pallets BUNDLE, which is Petals & Pallets stamp set plus Petals & Pallets dies! If you missed their previous FEATURE FRIDAY posts, click HERE to read all about Barb, Lisa & Rosali plus see projects they created using our Flower Turnabout and Hope Bundle! Click HERE to see their fun, summery projects using our Orange You Sweet BUNDLE.

Are you ready for all of this Petals & Pallets goodness? You should be! All their projects are amazing! We just love all the different looks that come about using two of our products!

First up today is Lisa @iminhaven:

We love how Lisa created a dark crate full of beautiful blooms, and the one leave hanging down...love!

This next card is so simple-looking, yet so pretty! The woodgrain background topped off with the single flower is so clean & fresh!

Next up is Rosali @ilovestamping:

This first card is so clever! Rosali made a gate fold with the Petals & Pallets dies! STAWP!

Here is is opened up! What a beautiful surprise inside!

Here Rosali has colored the woodgrain slats. It really helps that flower pop!

This next card shows the 3D crate, but look closer! Rosali used "FOR" from the "FOREVER" image for her own customized greeting!

Last but not least is Barb @bdengler4:

This first card shows these beautiful blooms with the no-line watercoloring technique! They looks like big, beautiful lilac blooms to me!

Here Barb has created a 3D crate, not attached to a card.

This next picture shows the 3D part, and how easily you could slip a gift card inside!

This next card is a big pallet/crate full of pretty petals! We love the extended crate, and the extra details in the flowers colored with markers!

Like I said, amazing, right?!?

These ladies have done such an excellent job using the products from our June release! We have loved seeing all their crafty goodness each week, plus they've been an absolute pleasure to work with! I sure hope you are hoping over to follow them on Instagram & leave them kind comments on their blogs, etc. too! What talents!!
